For collectors and people who love exclusive personal possessions, Caran d'Ache has a tradition of producing exceptional writing instruments in limited editions. At the Basel Fair 2003, the company presents a series of new and striking pens in its "Jewellery Collection". This selection of exceptional writing instruments includes models in solid gold and silver, some set with diamonds and other precious stones. There are fountain pens, as well as ballpoint pens, and they all are produced to the highest aesthetic and technical standards.
Two of the creations on show are a ballpoint and a fountain pen in 18 carat solid yellow gold, each adorned with six brilliant-cut diamonds, quality Top Wesselton VVS, totaling 0.15 carats. Their most distinguishing feature, however, is a "coat of mail" woven in gold around their centre part and inspiring the name of the pens, "Ivanhoe".
In autumn of the year 2000, Caran d'Ache introduced a collection of pens already baptized "Ivanhoe". They too are clothed in a coat of mail, but made of stainless steel, while the other parts of the pens are silver-plated and rhodium-coated. The four writing instruments in this collection have enjoyed huge public success since their launch.
The "Ivanhoe Gold" fountain pen can be used with an ink pump or with cartridges. The nib is made of 18 ct gold and available in three writing widths F, M or B. The ballpoint pen is fitted with the famous "Goliath" giant cartridge, ensuring 600 A4 pages of writing. Each fountain pen and ballpoint carries an individual number.Caran d'Ache, Maison de Haute Ecriture, was founded by Arnold Schweitzer in 1924.
