Description

The Black Series Limited Edition from Caran d'Ache communicates the sheer pleasure of working with fine materials. Produced by a long series of delicate operations carried out by craftsmen in the company's Geneva workshops, these Swiss made pens represent the essence of refinement down to the smallest details.

The body of the pens is silver-plated and rhodium-coated. The extreme hardness of rhodium, a noble metal in the platinum family, gives maximum scratch-resistance to the metal elements. Due to its rarity and the difficulty of extraction, rhodium is almost ten times more expensive than gold. Its principal advantages are that it is stainless and exceptionally strong.

The seven "Black Series" ballpoint pens each have a high-precision, pushbutton mechanism. They are fitted with the famous Caran d'Ache Goliath cartridge which has a writing capacity of 600 A4 pages. Seven spare cartridges in three ball sizes (F, M, B) are included in the box, offering real comfort for all styles of writing.
The presentation box also contains a soft cleaning cloth, as well as a black velvet pouch to carry the chosen pen of the day.

Caran d'Ache combines exceptional design with the ultimate in chic by enabling owners to select their writing instrument for the day, according to their mood, the seasons and the news.

Chinese Lacquer: precious black
Caran d'Ache is one of the very few Western manufacturers of writing instruments to use this precious material. It is a natural product derived from the sap of the "Tsi-Chéou" tree, and applied by hand by Caran d'Ache craftsmen in an exclusive process that combines the traditional methods of the Chinese masters with today's most advanced technologies.

Carbon Fibre: technical black
Its extraordinary combination of lightness and unusual strength makes Carbon fibre the ultimate technical material. Caran d'Ache updates tradition with a high-tech treatment.

Zebu Horn: raw black
Zebu horn is imported from South Africa in conformity with international conventions on animal products. This entirely natural material shows its wonderful grain even after polishing and high-gloss finishing. Working with horn requires a high degree of expertise in order to preserve its unique qualities.

Coat of Mail: tailored black
Inspired by the armour of medieval knights, the material is made from woven stainless steel and coloured. It feels very pleasant in the fingers when writing.

Ebony: ethnic black
This precious wood comes from traditional, ecological forestry operations in Mozambique. It is prized for the depth of its black colour and is often used in musical instruments and in marquetry. After cutting and polishing, it produces an absolutely smooth, soft finish.

Rubber: smooth black
Natural rubber has been refined in a special process that not only makes it supple and soft to touch, but also resistant to cracking and other effects of ageing.

Alligator: wild black
The fineness and strength of alligator makes it the diamond of leathers. Imported under strict quotas from alligator farms in Mississippi it has undergone several treatments to give it its flexibility and depth of colour.

"Black Series" is limited to 500 examples. Each box and all seven writing instruments are individually numbered. The pens are not available separately.
