Description
Utopies Amoureuses / Le Citta Delle'Amore
East meets West once again. This time the subject is eroticism and the West provides the text while the East contributes the images. The texts belong to the vast literature on amorous utopias. However, even on the theme of Eros, the West cannot lose its vice of legislating. The iconography that accompanies these totalitarian sexual fantasies is much more unassuming. It is a little Indian book sold at fairs to try and teach married couples and people in love “how it’s done” (like a Western manual that shows you how to insert a plug). Practical and popular as an almanac, this little Indian manual is not an erotic book but a book of amorous devotions, an introduction to the daily metaphysics of India and to its subtle ethical and ritual meanings.

Utopies Amoureuses / Le Citta Delle' Amore
