Onyx Chess Pieces

Solid onyx pieces with squared bases carefully elaborated by hand with felt lined bases.

Four color choices for the onyx chess pieces. Choose two colors to make a full 32 piece chess set.

Artisans cut the Onyx pieces using a hand-operated lathe. The pieces are refined by hand chiseling. In the final step, the artisans add a felt lining the square bases by hand.

Custom made to order, sets of these individually handcrafted pieces are available in limited quantities.

About Onyx: The mineral Onyx is a banded variety of a cryptocrystalline form of quartz. Its texture is so finely crystalline that only a polarized light can vaguely reveal its form. Given its fine qualities, Onyx is a mineral most often used in jewelry.
