Isadora Duncan
Towards the end of the nineteenth century a Californian dancer triumphed in the drawing rooms and on the stages of Europe. She wore her light peplum and nudity without shame and she was called Isadora. She danced for joy, barefoot and inspired by the aestheticism of the books that she loved. She danced until the day she died, strangled on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice by her fluttering scarf. Her sacred or demonic movements survive her. They inspired the meticulous déco artists Colinet, Chiparus, Preiss and Zach for the Cleopatras and Bajaderes of the drawing room, in marble, bronze and ivory. Through these little, precious statues Isadora is remembered and the work is narrated by Alberto Savinio.

Isadora Duncan
