Ecridor XS Ammonite Ruby Pens by Caran D'Ache

The little classic has a beautiful new appearance. The Ecridor XS from Caran dâ€™Ache now comes elegantly attired in rhodium-plated silver and finely engraved with a design of filigree ammonites. Its curved retro-style clip is crowned with a genuine ruby or sapphire. On the side next to the clip, the engraved "AG 925" hallmark guarantees that pen is made of sterling silver.

The Ecridor XS measures only 96 mm. This is 30 mm shorter than the traditional Ecridor â€“ the classic Caran dâ€™Ache hexagonal ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil. These have been among the worldâ€™s most highly appreciated writing instruments for more than 50 years and are a very desirable gift. In its new form, this elegant jewel of writing instruments will soon capture many hearts, particularly among the ladies.

With the engraved ammonites that decorate the body of this very latest version of the Ecridor XS, Caran dâ€™Ache pays homage to the fascinating world that disappeared eons ago. Ammonites are widely found and are amongst the best known of all fossils. The characteristic shape of their shell makes it possible to determine the geological period of the layer in which they are found. Ammonites were particularly abundant in the middle of the Earthâ€™s history (the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods) and died out at the same time as the dinosaurs, about 65 million years ago. But they have left their unmistakeable imprint around the world in the form of finely chiselled spiral shells.

The Ecridor XS, an abbreviation of eXtra Small, has a sterling silver body with a rhodium finish. This rare metal, which is more expensive than gold, is unusually hard and immune to oxidation. It ensures that these writing instruments will keep their shiny silvery finish and it protects their fine patterning.

The Ecridor XS Ruby is produced as a ballpoint pen and a mechanical pencil with fine leads of 0.5 mm diameter. When writing with this miniature classic, small corrections are easily made: a tiny eraser is conveniently placed under the push button.
