Chevron Silver Rhodium Coated Ecridor Pens by Caran D'Ache
The Caran d'Ache Ecridor pen has been a bestseller for decades. The secret of its success is its classic hexagonal design, its robustness and its legendary reliability. Of the many decoration options, the "chevron" has always been one of the most popular – a pattern echoed in the herringbone tweeds of autumn/winter fashion!
A fountain pen and a roller/fibre-tipped pen augment the Ecridor Chevron Collection. These fine writing instruments feature a 10-micron layer of silver, coated with rhodium.
The fountain pen features a steel nib in three sizes – F, M or B. Ink mechanism is an ink pump (supplied with the pen) that fills from a bottle or a cartridge, (two cartridges are provided). The roller/fibre-tipped pen will take either a roller or a fibre refill. Each pen ships with one of each. The chevron pattern on all models is a highly durable diamond engraving. The side opposite the clip has a 12-mm wide plain panel useful for engraving initials.
Rhodium is a metal of the platinum family. It is very rare and expensive (currently almost 10 times the price of gold). Thanks to its great hardness, it is exceptionally scratch resistant and abrasion resistant. However, its greatest asset is that rhodium-coated writing instruments will never oxidize, even in damp climates or through contact with body acids.
